I aimed to modify this avatar while retaining the original customization and functions as much as possible while working within the commisioner's design.
Mesh modifications were made in Blender, re-sculpting old parts and adding some new ones. New shapekeys also had to be added, such as to make the body plushier in shape. Substance Painter was used to create the materials with texture tweaks in Photoshop. The model was then re-imported into Unity, the old gameobjects and scripts were tweaked and put back onto the avatar, and the final unitypackage was sent to the commisioner.

Character Inspiration



The character is the commisioner's original creation. This is the image I was given to create the character for this project, drawn by Studiopolis.
A large spade was added to the tail, the spikes were modifed to be larger, and the ears thicker and more rabbit-like. The entire body was made thicker but retains the original avatar's shape slider abilities. A second pair of eyes was added above the jaw bones. These eyes move where the avatar is looking by copying the rotation values of the original eye bones.

Many of the dragon-like features, such as scales and wings, were removed to give the character a more skinned appearance. The commissioner also wanted the character to be able to become a plush toy, so I added an animation that slowly turns the avatar chubbier and changes its materials to be soft and cloth-like. A floppy cloth tag also appears from the ear during this transformation.
